SPANISH TWO INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED 10:45-12;15-Ages 12-16 Years Instructor Kirsten Borrink--Studied Spanish/Secondary Ed. at Wheaton College Carmel 46033

PRESCHOOL UKULELE-10:45-12:15-Why is a ukulele the perfect instrument for preschoolers- kids will learn simple songs and cords and rythums. Little child with ukuleleThe small size for a ukulele is perfect for children. This also means that they are not too heavy and that they can wrap their hand easily around the neck. In addition to that, strings are made of nylon and don’t have much tension. They are easy to press down and it’s easy to hold chords. This is a big advantage for beginner compared to guitars. Since ukuleles have only four strings, unlike the guitar, chords are much easier and some of them require only a finger and not odd finger positions.

In addition to that, ukuleles are really fun. Kids get excited since they are able to quickly learn their first songs. As a first instrument, ukuleles help children to learn about music and music theory. If a child is too young for a guitar and very motivated, then a ukulele can be a perfect alternative.

PRESCHOOL MUSIC CLASS –1:00-2:30 Carmel-, Ages 2-7- BEATBOX will develop their musical counting ability while also teaching them about timbre and rhythm. A basic beatbox pattern is: b t k t, where the b replicates the bass drum, t sounds like the hi-hat, and the k acts as a snappy-sounding snare drum. WALKING MUSIC This lesson can create an eight-beat walkway that students can practice walking across in time to a strict tempo. hand clap—when a student steps in a box where you have written a k, they clap their hands. We will teach your students musical notation, you can create note trails that pupils can follow and play with their feet. Notation may seem intimidating, but you really only need to teach four pieces of notation to achieve some great musical results: half beat, single beat, double beat, and single pause are the terms I use to teach these to beginners. Clapping out these beats while counting in bars of four, students should be able to quickly pick up the length that each note represents. Begin by clapping four single beats while counting the numbers 1 to 4 aloud. They will move to clapping two double beats while counting the numbers 1 to 4 aloud. Finally, clap eight half beats while counting the numbers 1 to 4 aloud. You can then challenge pupils to create their own four-beat bar of music using notation. They’ll soon realize that the total value of notes always has to add up to four (for example: half beat, half beat, double beat, single beat).

WORSHIP BAND 1:00-2:30 (guitar, piano, drums, violin, flute, bongos, vocals) Carmel Renee Bognar Instructor Ages 9-14 Carmel-Renee Bognar Instructor The Bible tells us worship isn’t just music, but a lifestyle. Worship is an action, not a place or event. We live lives of worship. And while music can be a part of worship, it alone isn’t worship. But for the purpose of this discussion on how worship music relates to children’s ministry, I’m going to let “worship” be synonymous with “music.” The band class is designed to inspire young people to express worship through music and song. It is never our intention to receive glory; rather to give everything to God and thank Him for the gifts He first gave us. The goal of our team is to build skills and unite as a group to lead our peers in praises. This year's band is fun and dynamic. The students know that a relaxed environment is the key to building success. At the same time, we are always prepared to focus in on stretching our abilities. This class is not centered on individual growth as much as it is built on team improvement and eternal worth.

It is combined with an intro to a cultural phenomenon: a style, and epoch, or a single artist. Students get to create their original artworks from scratch within the guidelines of the topic. Each topic can be adjusted to a variety of levels, from beginners to advance. Art teaching is an interactive process. We start a lesson with a short lecture and demonstration (live in studios, pre-recorded for online lessons). Teachers provide advice, help, correct the digital image of a student's work, explain what works in particular cases and what does not, and why. This year, we offer two general curriculums for kids 8-12 years old. Each of them covers all major art concepts, such as drawing humans, animals, portraits, landscapes; working with watercolor, acrylics, pastels, pencils, and clay. $102.00  no discounts

WORSHIP BAND I loved getting my kids ready to be a part of worship band what a blast both my daughters sand and played guitar for Grace Church, Northview church and one for Itown and still does, kids to practice the songs at home so that they know them really well when it is time to sing on stage. The Bible tells us worship isn’t just music, but a lifestyle.

THE ELEMENTS OF ART - SHAPE

Itown Church Circle Art Together Ladies Class

And every skillful woman spun with her hands, and they all brought what they had spun in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen”. Exodus 35:25

Shape and form

Shape builds on line and color, as it has to be made of one or both of these. Shape is the property of a two-dimensional form, usually defined by a line around it or by a change in color.

There are two main types of shapes, geometric and organic. While most works of art contain both geometric and organic shapes, looking at those that are more completely divided can serve to clarify these qualities.

Geometric shapes

Abstract Shapes

PAUL CÉZANNE (1881-1973)
Still Life with a Peach and Two Green Pears, 1883-87 (oil on canvas)

Abstract shapes, modified by the other visual elements, are the subject matter of Abstract Art.

When Paul Cézanne began to distort the perspective of representational shapes in his paintings, art took its first steps on a journey that led it through the partial abstraction of Cubism and Futurism to a range of pure abstract styles including SuprematismConstructivismDe StijlAbstract ExpressionismOp Art and Minimalism.

All classes open to kids that have never played the guitar, never painted or sung or done any kind of art. Art is one of the most beautiful way to relieve stress, unwind and in a healthy way regroup as we use our gifting to renew us and refresh us. This is a safe non judgement, encouraging atmosphere to build each other up and support each other’s lives .Blessings, Renee
